What Are The Benefits of Pumpkin in Skin Care… Pumpkin Facials?!?!

Pumpkin Pie! Pumpkin Lattes! Pumpkin Facials! Pumpkin Peels! Pumpkin Lotions!

This time of year, pumpkin is all the buzz, and it has even made its way into our skin care regimens and local salons. So what’s the big deal about pumpkin? Simply put…. Pumpkin is awesome! So how does a fruit that gets whipped up into a delicious pie or an amazing latte also make its way onto your face during your next facial? I am going to point out a few of my own answers below.

  • Pumpkin is a Powerful Vitamin Supplier

Pumpkin is excellent source of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is a powerful exfoliant, and skin softener.

Pumpkin is an excellent source of Vitamin C.  Vitamin C promotes healthy skin function.

  • Pumpkin is Packed with Fruit Enzymes

Fruit enzymes literally eat away dead skin build up. “Out with the old in with the new”.

  • Promotes Hydrated Skin through Dissolving Dry Skin

The exfoliating, enzymatic activity of pumpkin removes dry skin build up, which makes room for moisturizers to                      actually moisturize.

  • Anti-Acne

Pumpkin contains Vitamin E. Vitamin E is known to reduce inflammation, reduce pore size, control excess oil, which             leads to prevention of pimples, blackheads and blemishes.

Pumpkin contains high amounts of Zinc. Zinc is highly regarded for its ability to assist in skin healing.

Pumpkin Dessert at Ritz

I have given a very condensed version of why a pumpkin peel or facial may be a good choice for you. While a pumpkin treatment is a pumpkin treatment, there will always be a slight difference. The difference depends on the actual product being used. If a pumpkin treatment seems to be in your future, determine with the help of your skin care therapist that it is the right treatment for you.

Until next time…Enjoy your pumpkin pies, drink up those pumpkin lattes, and most importantly relax during your pumpkin facial!

Microdermabrasion Monday

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical treatment that will noticeably freshen, polish and rejuvenate tired skin.
Microdermabrasion uses a sterile diamond tipped wand to gently and safely rub off the outermost layer of dead skin cells. Paired with vacuum, any dirt and dead skin particles are suctioned away.
Microdermabrasion treatments accompanied by topical corrective skin care help to replenish nutrients, restore cell activity and promote overall good skin health.
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Results can include reducing the appearance of scars, lightening uneven skin tone, reducing pore size, lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and much more.
Microdermabrasion treatments can be done at any time and have zero down time associated with the procedure.
Post treatment, you can expect a visible difference and feel in the texture of your skin. Products will penetrate better and for woman, make up will go on smoother.

Here is the story:

You buy a the newest, latest, greatest face wash…. so excited, it is going to make your skin squeaky clean!!!…… after a week of using it, your skin develops a pimple. HOLD THE PHONE!

So, you go out, and you buy the next newest, latest and greatest face wash, This time it is going to really clear up your skin, after 8 days of using it, WHAT THE HECK another pimple!!!

Now you are getting frustrated, so you get as many recommendations as possible, and you go purchase THE BEST TOP NOTCH acne system. Your skin is going to spotless! You are SO excited! After 10 whole days of being on this new system you cant even smile without drawing blood in the corners of your lips because for some strange reason your face has turned into the driest part of the Sahara desert possible.

Naturally to fix the problem……. you rush out and buy  the newest, latest, greatest face wash!……… GET THE PICTURE!!

Trying new skin care products is Fantastic, and Here is the catch, you must give it time!!!!

It can take your skin in its existing state 4 to 6 weeks to acclimate to a new product. 4-6 weeks is a full cycle of skin cells from being created to the final stage of being a dead skin cell. This entire process has to happen while on the new product, before your skin decides if the newly introduced product will truly work for you.

When products are switched to frequently and to often, all you are doing is confusing your skin. Expect some inconsistent reactions from your skin during the 4-6 week period, your skin is adjusting. Let your skin adjust, and then decide!

CONSISTENCY with the product will be key. Follow the directions given by the product as it is intended to be used for a full skin cycle, and then make your choice based on your skins true response .

If you are still unsure after giving a product a trial period of 4-6 weeks, consult with you skin care provider.

15 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Bananas

15 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Bananas.

How To Chose an Effective Sunblock.

woman-applying-sunscreen240With so many choices when it comes to purchasing just about anything, unless you are the expert in the field, how do you know what to pick off the shelf? When it comes to purchasing sunblock, Here are 3 things to remember

The label should read “UVA/UVB” or “Broad Spectrum”. This allows for protection from every ray the sun produces.

SPF theoretically refers to the amount of time you can be in the sun without getting sunburned. Example… an SPF of 30 would allow you to stay in the sun 30 times longer than you could without protection.

Check the ingredients on the back of you Sunblock. If the Active Ingredients list Zinc or Titanium Dioxide, you are getting a very solid block from the suns rays.

Aside form what is listed above, you are choosing sunscreens based on your needs, waterproof, scent, feel etc.

Home Made Body Scrub

If you can relate to me in any of the following ways, maybe you want to consider reading to the bottom of this post and making a choice to create a small at home project and reveling the benefits it gives you. I am not entirely sure of all the benefits I will receive yet, I know fun, and feeling good will definitely be there though. See what you get.

I am going to make a body scrub from a few ingredients in my kitchen. Based on the research of ingredients I have done, this scrub seems the easiest and most beneficial.

What you need…
3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tablespoons Honey
1/2 cup sugar
1 Stirring utensil
1 Container to contain the finished product

Step 1: Add the olive oil to your container
Step 2: Add the honey to the oil
Step 3: Add the sugar to the oil and honey mixture
Step 4: Mix all of the ingredients with your stirring utensil.
Step 5: Enjoy!

I will keep my container in the shower and use it there. This appears to be the most logical being that it will be a bit sticky and grainy. Enjoy your soft smooth skin after you use your new scrub!
