15 Facts You Probably Didn’t Know About Bananas.

How To Chose an Effective Sunblock.

woman-applying-sunscreen240With so many choices when it comes to purchasing just about anything, unless you are the expert in the field, how do you know what to pick off the shelf? When it comes to purchasing sunblock, Here are 3 things to remember

The label should read “UVA/UVB” or “Broad Spectrum”. This allows for protection from every ray the sun produces.

SPF theoretically refers to the amount of time you can be in the sun without getting sunburned. Example… an SPF of 30 would allow you to stay in the sun 30 times longer than you could without protection.

Check the ingredients on the back of you Sunblock. If the Active Ingredients list Zinc or Titanium Dioxide, you are getting a very solid block from the suns rays.

Aside form what is listed above, you are choosing sunscreens based on your needs, waterproof, scent, feel etc.

Home Made Body Scrub

If you can relate to me in any of the following ways, maybe you want to consider reading to the bottom of this post and making a choice to create a small at home project and reveling the benefits it gives you. I am not entirely sure of all the benefits I will receive yet, I know fun, and feeling good will definitely be there though. See what you get.

I am going to make a body scrub from a few ingredients in my kitchen. Based on the research of ingredients I have done, this scrub seems the easiest and most beneficial.

What you need…
3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 Tablespoons Honey
1/2 cup sugar
1 Stirring utensil
1 Container to contain the finished product

Step 1: Add the olive oil to your container
Step 2: Add the honey to the oil
Step 3: Add the sugar to the oil and honey mixture
Step 4: Mix all of the ingredients with your stirring utensil.
Step 5: Enjoy!

I will keep my container in the shower and use it there. This appears to be the most logical being that it will be a bit sticky and grainy. Enjoy your soft smooth skin after you use your new scrub!

How To Take A Detox Bath

In ancient times, bathing as a form of detoxification was very popular. In certain circles, your skin is known as the third kidney, all being organs to get rid of waste. Taking a detox bath can assist your body in eliminating toxins, and also absorb the minerals and nutrients that are adding to the water. Best of all, it’ll leave you feeling refreshed and awakened

Here are 9 easy steps.

  • Step 1Give yourself plenty of time (approximately 30 minutes) to have your detox bath. You will need 15 minutes to allow your body to remove toxins, and the next 15 minutes to absorb the minerals in the water.
  • Step 2Fill your tub with hot water. bath-tubs-company
  • Step 3Add Epsom salts (aka magnesium sulfate) Magnesium and sulfate are both natural mineral that are easily absorbed through the skin. In the body, Magnesium assists in regulating the activity of over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation, helping muscle and nerve function and helping to prevent artery hardening. Sulfates help improve the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins and can also help ease migraine headaches. Epsom Salt is available at most grocery and drug stores.
  • Step 4- Add 1 to 2 cups of Baking soda (aka sodium bicarbonate) Baking soda is known for its cleansing ability, has anti-fungal properties and will leave your skin feeling very soft.
  • Step 5Add ground ginger or freshly made ginger tea. This step is optional. The purpose if ginger in this mix is to increase your body heat level, helping to sweat out toxins.  Since your body will actually get hotter, your skin may turn slightly red for a few minutes, so if you add ginger, only add a small amount. The recommended amount is 1 Tablespoon to 1/3 cup, the amount varies on the water capacity of your tub. Start with a small amount.
  • Step 6Add Essential Oils. Again this step is optional, but highly recommended. There are many essential oils available, each one having its own specific aromatherpy qualities. Some of my favorite are; lavender, good for  balancing, soothing, calming and relaxing. tea tree oil good for cleansing, purifying, uplifting. chamomile oil good for calming, relaxing, soothing. 20 drops is sufficient for a standard bath. If you prefer, you can use fresh herbs. Aromatherpy Oils can be found at most specialty stores, and some grocery stores
  • Step 7Move all the ingredients in the water around and soak. 30 minutes is recommended (the longer the better). Typically you will start sweating after the first few minutes. You should feel a comfortable sweat. If you feel too hot, start adding cold water until you cool off.
  • Step 8-  Get out of the tub slowly and carefully. You just gave your body a workout, so you may feel light-headed, exhausted and a little weak. Your tub will also feel a little slippery to your feet, so be careful!
  • Step 9Drink lots of H20. Anytime your you detox your body, it needs your help flushing out all of the toxins. Drinking plain water is the best way to do this. If you skip this step, it is likely that you may feel sick afterwards.

Whether you refer to it as “dermaplaning” “epi-blading” “epidermal leveling” , you are most likely always referring to the same facial treatment.

Dermaplaning, as I like to refer to it, is a very safe and effective way to get rid of the gunk that builds up on your face. A small hand help tool is used, (by a trained professional) to literally shave away the dead outermost layers of cells that you don’t really need. Unless your skin is exfoliated in any fashion, those gunky layers are going to continue to pile up. When gunk piles on top of gunk, you are left with well……. gunky skin.  I would like to think that gunky skin is not what you want to portray to the world.

While removing the dead dirty layer, dermaplaning will also remove all of the unwanted vellus hair (peach fuzz) on your face.  Leaving you with a very luxurious, clean, polished look…. your  REAL smooth skin.

You will typically notice a change after just one treatment, but like everything else, maintenance treatments will keep you clean and portraying a polished glow around much longer. Safe and practical for all skin types and conditions, excluding acneic skin.
